As a geoscientist, you’ll research various aspects of the Earth, including geology, geophysics, and geochemistry. You’ll study the structure and composition of the Earth's crust or the formation of rocks and minerals. Your tasks will also include investigating the dynamics of geological processes including mountain formation and volcanism.

The role of a geoscientist encompasses various tasks. For example, you’ll perform geostatic calculations for construction projects in building construction and civil engineering, as well as develop concepts for the extraction of mineral resources. In the field of environmental protection, you’ll collect soil samples to measure pollutant levels and draft expert reports and action plans.
