Geography is a field of study that examines the Earth’s composition and physical appearance: would you like to know how the Earth's surface developed and how people shape their environment? Are you interested in the spatial and scientific structures of the Earth, but also in social, economic, and political issues?
A degree program in geography combines social and natural sciences and provides different perspectives on the Earth as a habitat for different living beings. For example, you’ll learn different research and survey methods and practice handling geographical data.
Geography is divided into two main areas: in physical geography, you’ll gain knowledge about the Earth's natural processes, including its climate, water, and soil. Human geography focuses on human activities, including urbanization and migration. You’ll learn about local, regional, and global spaces and interrelationships.
This field of study covers various subject areas and applications, and you’ll probably specialize either in physical geography or human geography during your studies. Typical degree programs in this field include geography and applied geography.
