Fields of activity | Theater Educator

As a theater educator, you’ll plan and lead projects and workshops using theater-based methods, techniques, and content. You’ll work with a wide range of target groups, including children, young people, and adults.

Your goal as a theater educator is to foster creativity and expressiveness. Together with the participants, you’ll carry out exercises involving improvisation, acting, or dance elements. You’ll lead rehearsals and workshops, offering regular feedback to help participants develop their creative skills. In many cases, they’ll have the opportunity to showcase their individual strengths in a final performance.

Potential jobs | Theater Educator

As a theater educator, you’ll spend most of your time working in rehearsal spaces and at a computer. You may be employed by schools, cultural and youth centers, theaters, opera houses, or other cultural institutions. In addition, you’ll often work on a freelance basis and be hired for individual projects by social and educational organizations, for example, in retirement homes, nursing facilities, or adult education centers.
