As a stage designer, you’ll create sets for theater, musical theater, and other stage productions, working closely with various departments – such as directing, lighting, and costume design – to develop a cohesive visual concept. Once the planning phase is complete, your role as a stage designer will involve supervising set construction by guiding the theater’s technical staff and coordinating their work. You’ll also find opportunities in film and television productions, where set design plays an important role as well.
