As a social educator, you’ll provide support to children, young people, and individuals with disabilities or in special life circumstances, such as orphans or homeless people. You’ll advise and assist your clients in coping with everyday life and personal challenges. Depending on your clients’ needs, you’ll also develop measures for leisure activities and learning support, for example.
The aim of your work as a social educator is to eliminate social disadvantages and promote social participation. You’ll help prevent, identify, and overcome problems. You can also work in the administration of social institutions.

As a social educator, your tasks will depend on the clients you work with. For example, you might support children and young people in daycare centers, residential homes for child and youth welfare, school-based social education facilities, or educational and family counseling centers. Career opportunities also exist in refugee aid, drug counseling, homeless support services, and in facilities for people with disabilities or mental health conditions.
