As a food chemist, you’ll examine the quality and safety of food, cosmetics, animal feed, drinking water, packaging materials, and much more across various stages of production. You’ll analyze their ingredients and composition by conducting toxicological, biochemical, and molecular-biological tests and thoroughly evaluating the results.

Your responsibilities as a food chemist will involve extracting raw materials, developing new products, and overseeing their manufacturing processes. Since the food sector is constantly evolving and highly regulated, you’ll also work on continuously optimizing production and testing methods.
