Biochemist
Researcher of chemical processes in living organisms
Fields of activity | Biochemist
As a biochemist, you’ll analyze how chemical processes function in organisms by examining plant, animal, and human cells, as well as how these processes are controlled and organized. This will enable you to determine, for example, which substances influence cell formation and breakdown – and how this knowledge can be applied in medicine.
Gene modification will also be one of your potential areas of work as a biochemist: how can the genetic material of plants be altered to make them more resistant against pests? You may also focus on optimizing processes in medicine, technology, or agriculture.
