As a fisheries biologist, you’ll study the life cycles, behaviors, and ecosystems of fish populations. Your work includes the conservation and sustainable management of fish stocks – for example, conducting surveys and assessing the impact of environmental factors and human activities on aquatic habitats.

Developing plans for fishery resources will be a key focus of your work as a fisheries biologist. You may advise authorities on environmental protection issues and prepare expert reports on the ecological impact of fishing projects. Your responsibilities also include protecting endangered species and contributing to biodiversity research and species conservation.
