Studying Dentistry

Dentistry is a field of study dedicated to oral health: you’ll learn to recognize, treat and research diseases of the teeth, mouth and jaw. If you’re interested in studying medicine with an exciting focus, this is the right place for you.

Dentistry is based on scientific principles, which is why physics, biology and chemistry are usually part of the content. You’ll also acquire knowledge of medicine, as you’ll need to know the entire human body well to work on the teeth and jaws.

You’ll learn about diseases of the mouth and jaw as well as methods of tooth preservation, dentures and orthodontics. In this practice-orientedfield of study, you’ll learn how to make diagnoses, carry out treatments and maintain patients' oral hygiene.

Dentistry typically allows you to try out the knowledge you acquire early on, for example in the laboratory or in university clinics. Here you’ll also be able to demonstrate your social skills when dealing with patients. Typical degree programs in this field of study include dentistry, oral and maxillofacial surgery, or dental hygiene.
