What can you expect from studying Ethics?
Ethics is a field of study that focuses on the moral actions of human beings: principles, values and norms are examined, discussed and evaluated. The aim is to promote your critical thinking skills and learn to solve complex moral problems.
You’ll learn about ethical theories and approaches as well as the history of ethics as an academic discipline. That will allow you to try out and develop different perspectives on moral issues. As a sub-field of philosophy, ethics is often seen as an area for practical questions: you’ll learn how to examine and apply ethics in areas such as law, business, science and society.
In this field of study, you’ll deal with ethical issues from current debates, for example from environmental, bioethics or business ethics. Your curriculum will therefore also include topics from these fields of application, as you’ll need contextual knowledge to participate in the discussions.
If you’d like to face the moral challenges of the present day, studying ethics could be just right for you. Typical degree programs alongside a standard ethics degree include applied ethics, ethics and philosophy, as well as the combination of ethics and education.

What career opportunities do you have after studying Ethics?
With a degree in ethics, you’ll have a variety of career opportunities: for example, you might find work in the fields of bioethics, environmental ethics, business ethics or medical ethics. Here you’ll work in hospitals, companies, or public authorities, where you’ll help develop ethical guidelines or propose solutions to ethical problems.
You might find other jobs in research, public relations, journalism and social institutions. Many graduates also teach in schools or in higher education after completing their degree in ethics.
