As an interpreter, you’ll convert the spoken word from one language into another. Your work may involve interpreting speeches, interviews, negotiations, and conversations on television or at live events. To ensure accuracy, you must pay close attention to grammar, speech style, and cultural nuances.

You can usually specialize in either simultaneous or consecutive interpreting. In simultaneous interpreting, you interpret the original speech into another language in real time, whereas in consecutive interpreting, you begin interpreting only after the speaker pauses or has finished a sentence.
