As a geomatician, you’ll collect and process geographical data using modern surveying techniques such as GPS, laser scanners, and drones. You’ll measure terrain, buildings, and other infrastructure and use specialized software to convert the data into maps, graphics, or 3D representations.
Your tasks as a geomatician will also include visualizing specific features of the locations you’ve surveyed – either by incorporating them directly during map creation or by generating three-dimensional models. Additionally, you’ll advise your clients or employers on spatial design and location planning.
