As an archivist, you’ll collect and organize historical records, photographs, and other materials. Your responsibilities will include creating detailed catalogs and inventory lists to classify and provide easier access to archival documents for users. For example, you’ll assist researchers and students in locating and utilizing historical materials.
Preserving historical materials will also be part of your work as an archivist. You’ll ensure they are handled with care to prevent damage from light, moisture, and other environmental factors. Additionally, you’ll often digitize documents to further safeguard their preservation.
