Studying Computer Engineering

Computer engineering is a field of study that focuses on the areas of hardware and software and the connection between them. You’ll acquire comprehensive skills to be able to understand, develop and create powerful and efficient computer systems. You’ll become familiar with the inner workings of a computer as well as computer programming.

Computer science and electrical engineering are combined in a computer engineering degree program: for example, you’ll learn how to design, program and operate computer, information and communication systems. You can use this knowledge in fields such as robotics, microtechnology or artificial intelligence, among others.

Other subjects include data processing and transmission, network administration, digital circuits, microprocessors and operating systems. Computer architecture, i.e. the design of storage systems and other hardware components, is also an important part of this practice-oriented field of study.

If you’d like to contribute to technological progress, look closely at computer engineering as a field of study: this includes, for example, degree programs such as computer engineering, technical systems with a focus on computer science, applied computer science, computer engineering, computer engineering and embedded systems engineering.
